HISTORY

Jivaka KAumara-Bhrtya is known as the Great Mast of Thai Traditional Medicine. Derived from the Busshism Era and passed down through the generations. He was best known as the personal physician of The Lord Buddha as well as being the doctor to enlightened monks, Buddhists, disciples and the gerneral public.

The name Jivaka translates as 'still alive'. During his childhood, as a highly intellectual child, he had the opportunity to study medicine and treated people at Taksasila. He was a much loved student. As a character that showed great potential, his teachers transferred all their knowledge to him where his sharp memory retained all the information passed down to him.

On his way to Rajagha, Jivaka used his new found medical knowledge to cure whoever crossed his path from chromic diseases including those which no one else had cured.
